2. Prompt Anatomy

Use the 12 TPEE sections deliberately.

The lesson

Persona tells the AI which expert hat to wear. Instructions state the job. Context explains the situation. Technical Specs define non-negotiable limits.

Format is critical because it tells the AI what shape the answer must have. Examples show the pattern. Data grounds the answer in specific facts.

You do not need every section every time, but a professional prompt always makes the important assumptions visible.

A physiotherapy team lead builds a prompt for exercise-plan drafts, setting a rehabilitation specialist persona, the patient goals as context, the clinical limits as technical specifications and a numbered weekly format.

A mine site safety officer fills every section deliberately when briefing contractors: the persona, the pre-shift inspection task, the site hazards as context and a fixed one-page format.

An insurance claims assessor writes a prompt with a claims analyst persona, the assess-the-damage instruction, the policy conditions as data and a comparison table as the required format.

A software support engineer drafts a troubleshooting prompt, naming the persona, the exact error message, the environment as context, the logs as data and the steps-plus-fix format.

A construction site supervisor uses TPEE to prepare a prompt for a daily risk briefing, including the subcontractor audience, the site conditions and a short fixed layout.

A veterinary nurse writes a prompt for discharge notes, setting a veterinary clinician persona, the treatment summary as context, the medication limits as technical specifications and a plain-language format.

A newspaper reporter structures a backgrounder prompt, listing a research persona, the verification instruction, the source excerpts as data and a factual three-section format.

A municipal services officer drafts a prompt for a public notice, supplying the policy context, the resident audience and the heading structure instead of leaving the shape of the answer to chance.
