9. Privacy, IP, and External Services

Protect confidential work and understand TPEE's offline rule.

The lesson

Before pasting content into any cloud AI, decide whether the information is confidential, personal, licensed, or commercially sensitive.

TPEE itself is local/offline. It must not operate MCP servers, call AI APIs, phone home, upload files, or connect to external services.

The safe pattern is: prepare locally in TPEE, review what you are about to send, then consciously paste into the tool you selected.

An engineering lead at a defence supplier labels each prompt section as internal before deciding what may be pasted into a cloud model, keeping design drawings on the local network.

A community services case worker reviews each prompt section in TPEE, stripping identifying detail from client records before any text is copied into an external tool.

A funeral director prepares service drafts locally in TPEE, checking the family details and removing personal information before anything is pasted elsewhere.

A law firm associate marks client material as confidential in TPEE and pastes only anonymised questions into a cloud model, with names and file references removed.

A hospital administrator classifies patient-related text before use, keeping clinical detail on local systems and pasting only general wording into an external service.

A university researcher separates participant data from general analysis notes, using TPEE to hold the private material while only the stripped text is copied out.

A bank analyst treats account information as confidential, preparing the prompt locally and removing identifiers before pasting anything into a cloud tool.

A manufacturing process engineer marks the formulation notes as a trade secret and uses only general wording when asking an external model for help.

A government records officer checks the classification of each document before copying a prompt into an external service, keeping restricted material on the internal network.

A journalist protects unpublished source material, drafting the prompt in TPEE and pasting only the non-identifying parts into a cloud model.
